The purpose of this research was to identify the types of interaction that emerged not only in a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) but also in faceto-face settings. The study also assessed the impact of the different kinds of interactions in terms of language learning. This is a qualitative case study that took place in a private Colombian university. Theories related to interaction, foreign language learning, and the use of technology in the EFL classroom were taken into account for analyzing the data. The data revealed a new type of interaction and the need to have specific subdivisions of the established types of interaction.Downloads
